They say that eyes are the windows to the soul.

They’re beautiful and multi-dimensional, but elusive to view.

It’s considered rude as adults to lock eyes with strangers, and can be dangerous to stare down an animal. The staring game is even tough amongst two adults that are comfortable with one another.

Maybe that’s why it’s amazing when young children have no reservations with their inquisitions. A child’s purity shows they have nothing to hide. No shame, no regrets, no insecurities. They are not challenged by eye contact.

The Owl’s cultural significance has been drawn from ancient wisdom, and they are also not challenged by the eye. The Aborigines believe that Owls represent the souls of women. Therefore sacred, because your sister is an Owl, and the Owl is your sister.

They have eyes with circles of bright yellow, within which resides a bottomless pool of molten black. If you fell in, you would never return. You would be consumed completely.
