Exclusive Interview
Tons of things are new, mostly just my home set up and all this information about programs and equipment that I’m trying to learn—Final Cut, new camera, digital four-track recorder. I’m also learning screen-printing and some new painting stuff, as well as tons of new info about web sites—too much stuff entering my brain right now.
This off-season has been about learning, really trying to get a grip on Final Cut. I’ve been painting a ton, writing. I’ve also been going to physio, trying to get some muscles back that haven’t been working properly.
There are a lot of rad things in shredding, the best thing though is riding with your friends and spending time outside in the mountains, I really look forward to that every season.
There are a few things, the biggest probably being that people sometimes seem to only like you if or when you’re helping them get further, other than that things are pretty rad.
The level of riding is going crazy; kids are so good these days. I remember JP and Jeremy saying ‘man I would hate to be an up and coming kid’ back when I was up and coming, now I’m saying the same thing seven years later.
A huge combo of being able to ride and being able to talk to people, there’s a lot that goes into making it and its different for everyone, but you really need to have a special spark or something about you that makes people respond to you positively, its no longer good enough just to be the best.
Number one is loving what I’m doing, I’ve always done my best when I’m having fun and doing it for myself.
Expressing your feelings, or whatever you are thinking even though it might suck. You don’t have to express it to others, just yourself. Not hiding from yourself is important.
Art and movie making, I love music, I love being outside, and I love eating good food.
As someone that did their own thing, that never really followed the trends or the typical path.
I like the support.
Scott Stevens is amazing, he’s one of those guys that just finds his own way of doing everything and has a really great time doing it, I love that.
Jamie Lynn, Peter Line and Terje—they were the badass dudes when I started, I loved watching them.
The Snowboard Realms—that’s why I’ve been working on learning new programs, I really want to make some fun movies and shred with some cool kids from The Realms team.
That we’ve had to work for it. I’m so stoked to say that I’ve been there since the start and this is my family, I love that it’s a family too. We fight, have problems, and get pissed, but we all love it and know that in the end we’ll be together doing it.

So much wonderful music
Many good books, most interesting to me art theory books like The Art Spirit by Robert Henri.
I’m pretty good, just watching some YouTube stuff and working on a new little video … waiting for snow.
Because you don’t turn on the heat.
I like cheese a lot, but I like gelato more.
